Rachael Kupka, Acting Executive Director, GAHP

Rachael Kupka is responsible for GAHP’s operations, program development, strategy and funding initiatives, as well as relationship with donors around the world. She has more than 15 years experience in nonprofit, program management, development and fundraising. Prior to GAHP, she worked for Pure Earth and the Wildlife Conservation Society. Rachael holds a MA in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University, and a Certificate in Conservation Biology from Columbia University.

Jill Hanna, Senior Advisor

Jill Hanna graduated in economics from Cambridge University. She spent 11 years as a UK civil servant in what is now the Department for International Development (DFID), working in London, Kenya, the Caribbean and Brussels. In 1989, Jill joined the European Commission, where she worked to introduce a green reflex in aid programme and took part in the initial negotiations for the 1992 Rio Summit for Environment and Development. She then spent four years in the private office of Bruce Millan, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, dealing with European support for Portugal and the negotiations for the entry of Nordic countries into the Union in 1995. In that year she joined the European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment and spent the next 23 years working on the external environmental policy of the European Union.

Karti Sandilya, Senior Advisor

Karti Sandilya comes to GAHP from Pure Earth, where he has been Senior Adviser since 2004. He works on strategy development, advocacy, and fundraising with the donor community. Prior to joining Pure Earth, he specialized in strategy and policy development at Asian Development Bank (ADB), before retiring as its Resident Director in Washington, D.C. Before his ADB career, he was in the Indian foreign service, serving in Argentina, Bangladesh and Switzerland, and at headquarters in New Delhi.

Laura Schaefli, Program Associate

Laura Schaefli joined the GAHP team in May 2020. She has over 7 years of experience in project management and communications in non-profit environments. Prior to joining GAHP, she worked as a Program Coordinator with the ARCH Network for Maternal and Child Health Equity. Laura holds a PhD in Geography from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Lucile Okio, HPAP Coordinator

Lucile Okio joined the GAHP team in June 2020, where she will work on Health and Pollution Action Plan projects. She has several years of experience working in program management, emergency preparedness and response, and project development. Prior to GAHP she spent the last three years working for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva, Nigeria and most recently Niger where she worked as a Program Officer and supported the implementation of small scale cross-sectoral projects with local partners and community members. Lucile holds an MSc. in Public Health and is fluent in English and French.

Lilian Corra, Advisor

Dr. Lilian Corra is a pediatrician/neonatologist who has done extensive work to raise awareness about children’s health in relation to the environment. She is the director of the Medical Specialist Program on Health and Environment at the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. At GAHP, she will focus on international advocacy drawing on her connections with global aid agencies and South American governments. She also worked with Pure Earth on the Toxics Sites Identification Program in Argentina, which has, in some cases, led local authorities to halt development on contaminated sites. In 2016, she was part of a team of global experts who contributed to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s new series of children’s environmental health training modules.
