Commissioner: Keith Martin, MD

“There is still a massive lack of understanding about the connection between health and the environment. Knowledge-sharing is just one step: also crucial is turning that knowledge into action.”

Keith Martin is Executive Director, Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), and Member of Parliament, Canada (1993-2011). He has served as the founding Executive Director of the CUGH since 2012. With the CUGH his focus is on improving health outcomes for the global poor and strengthening academic global health programs.


The Commission on Pollution and Health is an initiative of The Lancet, the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP), and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Commissioners include many of the world’s leading researchers and practitioners in the fields of pollution management, environmental health and sustainable development.
